These, along with many other local varieties, constitute a true natural heritage carrying just as much intangible heritage that tells us of recipes, work in the fields and hearths always ready to offer hot soup.

Sorelle Lo Re Agricultural Society was born from the idea of a family who, through the stories of their elders, inherited a passion and love for the land and nature.
In the early 1900s our great-grandparents, Biagio and Domenica Lo Re, moved to America to seek their fortune. There they began cultivating the land and, thanks to their sacrifices and labor, opened a fruit and vegetable store in Boston.
In 1920 Biagio, Domenica and their 6 children decided to return to Isnello, their small town of origin located at the foot of the Madonie Mountains.
Through the purchase of a small plot of land in the locality of "Fiume," described by their grandparents as "Heaven on Earth," they began to cultivate the produce of the land with commitment and devotion.
From accounts of the past that land repaid the commitment and care given to it with great abundance of fruits and vegetables that, in addition to allowing the Lo Re family to make a decent living, also managed to sustain the people who worked with them and in some ways even those who, especially during the years of World War II, lived in poverty.
Such devotion came to us, the technology generation, through the stories of Grandma Giosy, who was able to make us understand the respect for the earth, the importance of the fruits of a tree, and the energy and tenacity of a wild plant. Her cooking, based on the use of poor but wholesome and tasty foods, has always been the binder between tradition and family, between past and present, between the use of resources and the thriftiness of energy. In her dishes and her notebooks, treasure chests of recipes handed down from generation to generation, you can sense the tradition, respect and love for the land that her father Biagio and mother Domenica passed on to her during their lives.
We are a small family business, which is striving to recover the original values that working the land can give and to enhance the genuine traditional products that our territory can give us.
Our commitment is to produce vegetables, fruits, legumes and offer native, fresh, organic and seasonal products grown the "old way," without the use of chemicals, with the intention of bringing back to the table the flavors of the past and the genuineness that, unfortunately, today is difficult to find.
Our goal is to give birth to an economic reality with the return in part to the past, but using the techniques of the present for a projection towards the near future. In this reality we will strive to make people appreciate naturalness, with a vision of the balanced use of the environment and the land that hosts us through sustainable rural development.
